Banner made of ceramic and knitted buntings with tassels (Installation)
Approx. 90 x 52 cm
Candy and Linzi take inspiration from the 19th century English Romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley’s “The Masque of Anarchy,” and bring together symbols of resistance and solidarity throughout history and across the world into a shared work. Made of colorful and vibrant ceramic and knitted pieces, their work is inscribed and imprinted with words that still ring true across time and space: chains can be broken, there is strength in numbers, and a better world awaits.
Candy and Linzi have included an additional work, a banner that bears an excerpt from a John Lennon interview about peace and awakening people to their own power.

Candy Reyes Alipio is an avid knitter, production designer for film and advertising, and a social entrepreneur. She co-founded Knitting Expedition, a social enterprise based in Ifugao, Philippines that supports the local community of Uhaj, by providing livelihood opportunities to help the women preserve their traditions and ancestral lands. Candy is also the Creative Director for a creativity accelerator for kids in Baguio City.

Linzi Ramsden is a ceramic artist. Her ceramics are described as architectural, as well as bearing imprints and patterns derived from nature. Linzi’s work also explores the everyday, the collection “Origami” is a response to the repetitive folding of her child’s clothes. She continues to find inspiration in exhibitions, literature, politics, film and documentaries, and exploring rural and urban environments.
