Making Through Mending
Andrea Lord
Calico Cotton and Thread
30 x 40 cm
Andrea finds her way through the chaos of a broken landscape, stitching together pieces of fabric without knowing the final outcome of the composition. In this new and meditative work, she peppers the ground with snippets of green stitching to represent the sprouting of hope and regrowth. In reversing the fabric panels, revealing the rough edges and leaving some of the stitching undone, the work represents the uncertainty of the moment and the struggle to find the path back to making.

Andrea Lord has worked in the design industry for 45 years. She is skilled in diverse disciplines, such as the visual arts, art direction, textiles and knitting.
